Death Valley National Park is located near the California and Nevada border, about 140 miles from Las Vegas. It is the hottest and driest location in North America and boasts the lowest elevation as well, 282 feet below sea level at Badwater Basin. The hottest temperature in the Western Hemisphere of 134° was recorded at Furnace Creek in 1913. Points of interest include Golden Canyon, Zabriskie Point, Badwater Basin, Mesquite Sand Dunes, Dante's View and Artist's Palette.
