Naxos is the largest and considered one of the most beautiful islands of the Cyclades with its gorgeous beaches, impressive mountainous landscape, ancient ruins and quaint fishing villages. Its Venetian capital, Naxos City or Hora, sits in close proximity to the partly completed Portara, or Temple of Apollo, whose ruins are best viewed just before sunset on the small island connected to Naxos by a causeway.
