Upper and Lower Antelope Canyon are magnificent slot canyons located near Page, Arizona on Navajo Indian land. Formed by erosion primarily due to flash floods, the flowing canyons are dark, narrow passageways that are both majestic and graceful. Upper Antelope Canyon can be reach by escorted jeep transport to the canyon opening. The walls rise 120 feet above the streambed and is easily accessible. Lower Antelope Canyon is located a couple of miles downstream in a dry river bed and accessed by guided tour only. Entrance is gained by slipping through the narrow opening and down a metal stairway which drops to the canyon floor. Lower Antelope is much narrower and harder to negotiate.
